Palermo is a friendly city for gay and LGBTQIA Community?

Absolutely yes! A lot of people think that Sicily and Palermo are not for gay! Foolish!

There is a marvellous LGBTQIA+ Scene in Palermo and now we’re going to give all the details to live our city in the best way!

In Palermo there are not only culture, history and good food but also a vibrand night and social life for everyone! There also many venues and activities totally dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community emerges.

 Gay – Queer-Friendly Venues and Nightlife

We are really hospitable with everyone! In the main city of Sicily you can find many clubs, bar, proposal also for the gay and lesbian community that are not only places of entertainment but also spaces of culture and expression and freedom.

You have to stay on the center of the city to live the best gay scene of Palermo,… and you can have a marvellous drink to Colletti and Goccio in Via Alessandro Paternostro, in the historical centre or a beet to the picturesque “Exit Drinks”-

During winter time you can have also a dessert or an aperitivo to “Cha Bar”. Do you need more hot and cuddles? Go to “Maxximum Time” sauna close to oyur buggest theathre, Teatro Massimo.

Are you visiting Palermo during June? Take part to Palermo Pride, our annual celebration held during Pride Month that transform our main streets into a vibrant display of color and music!

Ok but fo step by step… starting from the historical center… this is our maps to enjoy the city in the best way (with a small flower we focus on gay and LGBTQIA+ venues):

They’re not just a bar…. they’re a “salotto” for many many nice people

1 and 2) Botteghe Colletti and Goccio – 2 Friendly Bars

  • Address: Via Alessandro Paternostro, Palermo
  • the small street is very nice and picturesque, the atmosphere is absolutely welcoming and international, you will find locals and tourists and have marvellous cocktails!

2) Caterina Pub / Laguna Blu – Lesbian Bar for gils and ladies

  • Address: Via Squarcialupo 19, Palermo
  • A typical and informal spot for the lesbian community in Palermo, it’s a small bar but you can have a beer and socializing on the stairs in front of it!

3) Exit Drinks – The historial Gay Bar of the city

  • Address: Piazza San Francesco di Paola 39/40, Palermo
  • Close to Politeama Theathre, a historic landmark for more than 25 years, very informal, coloured and picturesque, you will meet here any kind of guy from our city… teens and over 60!

4) Cha – Friendly Bar and lounge (only indoors – suggested for the winter)

  • Address: Via Velasquez 28, Palermo
  • A real cozy atmosphere, offering a wide selection of teas, sweets, pastries, and culinary delights.

5) You need to relax? Maxximum Time Only Men Sauna is a good option!

  • Address: Via Scarlatti 3  (close to Teatro Massimo, in the heart of the city)
  • Turkish bath, Finnish sauna and everything that you can find in a gay sauna!

And if you want to dance? No worries, Palermo offers many solutions and clubs for LGBTQIA+ community!

1) I Love Tuesday – Gay Night (Tuesday)

  • Cavallerizza Club, in the historical center, featuring an apericena and drag show
  • Perfect for gay, lesbian and also for their straight friends!

2) EXIT 10 & Love – Gay Night (Saturday)

  • Address: Via Ugo la Malfa 91 @ Fabric Features exceptional animation with gogo boys and drag queens, creating an electrifying atmosphere with music and themed parties. Unfortunatly this one is not in the center of the city, you need a taxi or ask to someone in chat to drive you there!

3) PopShock – Queer Friendly Night (Saturday)

  •  An itinerant event (very oftern during the winter season it’s at candelai, via dei candelai 65, Palermo), impressive DJ lineup, perfect for young guys and queer!

And what’s about for the sea and beatches for LGBTQIA?

Of course you have many options!

  • The nearest access to the sea where a lot of queer and gay go is close to Mondello, Addaura, it’s called, Punta Priola (bus 603 when we write this post).
  • A second place, a bit more difficult to find is a marvellous area for naturist people, called “Capo Gallo” but you have to walk a bit…. if you’re strong enough you can see a marvellous sunset from there!
  • The most well known but it’s a bit far from the city is Balestrate (golden sand, and protected dunes) but you need the car to go there!
